VentCRM vs. Jobber, Housecall Pro, and QuoteIQ: an honest comparison
These aren't really the same kind of product. The big names are all-in-one platforms you rent a seat on. VentCRM is your own private system, set up for you by a working vent cleaning operator. Here's how to tell which one you need.

A ground rule first. I only state facts about VentCRM here, because that’s the product I built and can vouch for. Jobber, Housecall Pro, and QuoteIQ change their plans and features regularly, so I describe them in general terms and won’t quote their prices — check each vendor’s own site for what’s current. They’re established products with a lot of happy customers.
The short version
- Pick a big all-in-one app if you want to sign up today with a credit card, want the lowest entry price, run a large crew, or need payroll and inventory.
- Pick VentCRM if you run a small vent, duct, or chimney cleaning company, want to own your system and customer list rather than rent a seat, want it set up and migrated for you, and want the vent-specific proof tools that win reviews and repeat business.
Side by side
| VentCRM | All-in-one apps (Jobber, Housecall Pro, QuoteIQ…) | |
|---|---|---|
| What you get | Your own private deployment: own database, own booking site on your domain, own texting number, own Stripe account. | An account on the vendor's shared platform. |
| Built for | Dryer vent, air duct, and chimney cleaning — owner-operators up to roughly five trucks. | Dozens of home-service trades, from solo operators to large crews. |
| Getting started | Done for you: I load your services, prices, and customers, register your texting number, connect Stripe, and walk you through it on a call. | Self-serve: sign up online and configure it yourself, usually with a free trial. |
| Vent-specific tools | Airflow (FPM) before/after with a customer-friendly badge, photo and video proof on receipts, roof and gate access notes, annual re-booking reminders. | General-purpose job notes, photos, and checklists you adapt to the trade yourself. |
| Pricing model | One price, everything included: $750 setup + $129/month. Texting at cost; card fees paid to Stripe directly. | Tiered monthly plans — check each vendor's pricing page for current plans and what each tier includes. |
| Your data | Self-serve CSV export of clients, invoices, leads, and payouts any time; complete export on cancellation; no contract. | Varies by vendor and plan — ask before you commit. |
| Support | Direct line to the builder, who runs a vent cleaning company on the same system daily. | A support team, typically by chat, email, or phone depending on plan. |
| Deliberately missing | Payroll, warehouse/parts inventory, dispatching for hundreds of technicians, an instant self-serve signup. | — |
The real difference: renting a seat vs. owning the system
On a shared platform, your customer list, your job history, and your texting number live inside the vendor’s account structure. If the vendor changes pricing, retires a feature, or closes your account, your business absorbs it. I know, because in August 2026 our old platform closed my company’s account. We didn’t lose a job — only because our own system was already running.
With VentCRM your deployment is yours: your own database, your own domain, your own Stripe and texting accounts. No contract, and your data exports to CSV from inside the app whenever you like.
Where the big apps honestly win
- Speed to start. You can be inside a self-serve app in minutes. VentCRM is a done-for-you setup, and registering a business texting number with the carriers takes time no matter who does it.
- Entry price. Their starter plans cost less per month than VentCRM.
- Scale. Payroll, inventory, and large-team dispatching are their territory, not mine.
- Breadth of integrations. Large platforms connect to more third-party tools out of the box.
Where VentCRM wins
- It’s built for this trade. Airflow readings, before/after proof on the receipt, access notes, and yearly re-booking aren’t add-ons — they’re the core.
- Everything is included. One price. Online booking with deposits, two-way texting, quotes, e-signed agreements, technician logins, review requests — none of it is behind a higher tier.
- Someone does the work for you. Migration (including from Jobber), texting registration, Stripe, your services and prices — handled.
- You talk to the builder. And the builder runs a vent cleaning company on the same software every day.
Still not sure? Open the live demo — the real product, no signup — or read the step-by-step guide to what vent cleaning software needs to do. Moving off Jobber specifically? That’s its own page.
Common questions
- Is VentCRM the cheapest option?
- No, and it isn't trying to be. Self-serve field-service apps have entry plans that cost less per month than VentCRM's $129. What VentCRM's price buys is a different thing: your own private system, set up and migrated for you, with every feature included and direct support from the person who built it. If lowest monthly cost is the deciding factor, a self-serve app is the better fit.
- What does 'your own private system' actually mean?
- Every VentCRM operator gets their own deployment with its own dedicated Postgres database — not an account inside a shared platform. Your own booking site on your own domain, your own business texting number, your own Stripe account. Your customer list is physically separate from every other company's.
- Which one has more features?
- The big all-in-one platforms, easily — they serve dozens of trades and large crews, with things like payroll, inventory, and large-team dispatching that VentCRM deliberately leaves out. VentCRM covers the day-to-day of a small route business and adds vent-specific pieces general apps don't have: airflow readings before and after, photo and video proof on receipts, and annual re-booking reminders.
- Can I try VentCRM before deciding?
- Yes. demo.ventcrm.com is a live copy of the real product running a fictional company. You're signed in automatically, nobody asks for your email, and it resets daily.
